Month: October 2014

I don’t know
about you, one of my favorite parts about the weather turning cooler is
getting to drink hot cocoa! After two years of enjoying a little hot
cocoa station in our last house, we took a year off from doing one last
year because we didn’t have a good spot for one here in our new house.

When we painted the kitchen and family room a few weeks ago I took the slipcovered wingback chairs that were in this room (you can see photos of this room with those chairs here) I decided to try switching the sets of chairs because I really liked how the slipcovered ones looked against the new darker gray mantel in the family room.

We are excited to be introducing our new “In everything give thanks” sign! It’s in stock now. Here it is in our dining room. I started setting things up in here a little bit for Thanksgiving but I haven’t finished with the tabletop yet.

We have done a “thankful tree” in years past but this year switched out the leaf cutouts for these little tags we found at Michael’s.

Well, it’s finally starting to feel like fall around here! YAY! With the cool, crisp weather arriving we had a little bit of fun finishing up some fall touches out on our porch. Although I have to admit all four of us are pretty picky eaters, we surprisingly all LOVE pretty much anything pumpkin flavored and devoured these pumpkin donuts we got at the grocery store.

Well, I was planning on posting about our autumn back porch today but I haven’t finished going through all the photos yet so instead here are just a few of the images and tomorrow I will be back with the full post (including lots more photos and all of the info).

The reasoning for re-painting all the trim in this room (our eat-in-kitchen and family room) white and the doors black probably made sense to most people seeing how it now matches the rest of the house as well as lightening up the room. However, my many reasons for painting the cabinets just a few shades darker than I first painted them a year ago make lots of sense in my own head but I think I can safely say will mostly seem crazy to everyone else, so I won’t bore you with all of that.
